Dr. Shalaun J. Hawkins Shalaun J. Hawkins , M.D. was reared in Arlington, Texas. She completed her college education at Texas A&M University, received her medical degree from Meharry College in Nashville, Tennessee and then completed her residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, Charity and University Hospitals in New Orleans, Louisiana. She began practice in 2005 and is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

"I have great respect for individuality and listen carefully to everything patients share," says Dr. Hawkins. "Patient concerns deserve compassion and understanding. Medicine is not a 'one size fits all' experience; it is a partnership between physicians and patients."

Dr. Hawkins' favorite book is "Gifted Hands", by Benjamin Carson, M.D. She has been involved in community programs mentoring children, and enjoys reading, travel and movies.
